A world where people can trust their task system to reflect reality, reduce mental load, and support them through changing phases of life without constant reorganization or guilt.

Mission Statement​

Design and build a calm, local-first task system that respects human energy, real priorities, and long-term goals, so people can set up once, trust over time, and rely on daily without constant micromanagement or pressure.

Core Values​

  • User ownership over convenience: Tasks are owned by the user and stored locally as the source of truth. AfaFlow must never trap users through proprietary formats or forced cloud dependence.
  • Clarity over complexity: Tasks are stored in human-readable formats and remain understandable and usable outside the app.
  • Integration over isolation: Tasks fit into existing workflows instead of replacing them. Integrations must respect open standards and never compromise local-first ownership.
  • Resilience over dependency: The app must remain functional without network access, cloud sync, or AI.
  • Reality over guilt: The system surfaces what is realistically achievable instead of pressuring users with artificial urgency.

Strategies​

Energy-aware scheduling (circadian rhythm)​

  • People have predictable energy highs and lows across the day.
  • AfaFlow helps you plan tasks by Energy Zones so you do the right work at the right time.

Goals-oriented planning​

  • All tasks are expected to have a clear Goal and Start Date to ensure work enters the system intentionally, becomes reviewable, and does not silently decay into backlog noise.
  • Without a Goal, the task will be stored in Inbox for quick assignment.
  • Without a Start Date, the task will be stored in Unscheduled for quick schedule.

Review-driven​

  • Progress is driven by lightweight daily and periodic reviews.
  • Completion alone is not success - clarity and adjustment through review are what keep the system trustworthy over time.

Local-first by default​

  • Local data is the default and authoritative source of truth.
  • Cloud Sync is optional and explicitly enabled by the user, and must never block core workflows or data access.

AI-assisted​

  • AI can help with scheduling suggestions, monitoring, and reviews.
  • It supports your decisions; it does not replace your intent or take control.
